as if...

regarding alberto gonzalez's role in the firing of seven united states attorneys in 2006, it appears the federal prosecutor's investigation is heating up. this does not make me happy.

as a lover of justice, i wish this thing would just slow down. why? because if nora dannehy, the prosecutor assigned to the case by bush-appointed attorney general michael mukasey, to investigate the bush-appointed former attorney general, discovers wrongdoing and files charges against gonzalez prior to obama's inauguration, bush will certainly pardon gonzalez thereby making it impossible to ever bring him, (and perhaps the administration,) to justice.

then again, i admit it is a bit silly on my part to think that this would turn out any other way.

  • as if gonzalez did what he did on an island without protection.
  • as if libby will not be pardoned.
  • as if the republican party was not complicit in allowing bush, rove and gonzalez to use non-government email addresses to communicate on the matter.
  • as if congressional leadership was not complicit in refusing to pursue the impeachment option.
  • as if this administration did not torture prisoners in secret cia prisons abroad.
ahh, what the hell am i wasting my time on? the members of congress do not have the will to hold this administration accountable for their actions because the people do not have the will to hold the congress accountable for their actions, (or inactions, as it were.)
